Simon was my boss for about 3 years. I will always be grateful for the guidance and mentoring he provided over that period, early in my career. He was never fazed by problems and whenever I told him I had made a mistake he would just help fix it and move on, trusting me to learn.
We also developed a friendship outside of work based around our love of running and cycling. We would frequently run around the East London canals at lunchtimes and used to race each other up the Isle of Dogs when our morning cycling commutes coincided.
I am deeply saddened by what has happened but Simon will always be remembered . My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

I remember the day Simon joined the TerraFirma team at CS, all those years ago. We were a really close team and Simon fit right in. His knowledge was second to none, he was funny and down to earth.
I could always have a good laugh with Simon. We worked together for many years after that.
Such sad news that you've left us Simon.
Thoughts are with your family. RIP.

Simon and I sat beside each other for about 5 years at Credit Suisse. We weren’t on the same team which meant we didn’t really talk about work but chatted about almost everything else. We regularly went running together, did a few 10k’s and 5k’s and a half marathon in Richmond (he beat me!) We were a similar level at running, which added a bit of competition - I definitely pushed myself more than usual to try and beat him doing our weekly laps of McDougall Gardens. We once spent a weekend together skiing in Switzerland. It was impromptu, I think I said I hadn’t been skiing in ages and he said neither had he. We booked flights and off we went. At Geneva airport, I knew the way to our destination well but Simon wanted to drive. As we were driving along the motorway at 120kpm, I could see a turn ahead for a lay-by. It was dark and for some reason Simon thought the lay-by was a continuation of the motorway and before I knew it, we entered the lay-by still doing 120kpm! I shouted some expletive thinking we were doomed but thanks to his quick wits, he nimbly redirected us out of the lay-by, still at 130kpm, as if nothing had happened. We then both cracked up laughing. I’m fairly sure that was the fastest speed clocked for entering a Swiss lay-by & surviving!
Still hard to believe. My thoughts are with Caroline, Sophie and Daniel.
