Simon and I started our course together at Newcastle University in 1990. We ended up sitting close together diring one of out first lectures and realised that we bithe needed to pay our hall fees. I remember vividly sitting in the Merz Court common room as we navigated our Barclays student pack to find our cheque books. It was then I admitted to him that I had nwvee written a cheque before, and he opened up and said the same to me. So it was that as Programmers we navigated the logic of a cheque together and duly signed we took them together to the finance or accommodation office! We spent a wonderful year in Castle Leazes so they must have been okay!
